simple water bottle cover pattern

although they are free, please do not misuse my patterns.

I knit these on a small 7" circular needle, but dpn's would work too if you're comfortable using them. The only techniques you should know are k2tog, ssk, and m1r (which is the invisible increase that i prefer). I used some leftover Lion Brand Pure Wool i had, but I imagine any worsted weight yarn will work well.*

Recommended Needles: 4.5 mm/7 US

Gauge: 22 sts/34 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Neck: Cast on 44 sts. Join for working in the round, placing marker, using a k2, p2 rib. Knit rib pattern for 6 1/2 inches.

Body: Starting at marker, using stockinette stitch for body, (k4, m1r,) to the end of round, increasing round to 55 sts. For the second, (k5, m1r,) to the end of round, increasing round to 66 sts. For the third, (k6, m1r,) to the end of round, increasing round to 77 sts. Continue to knit all rounds until body measures 9 1/2 inches.

Decrease rounds: Starting at marker, k35 sts, ssk, k1, place marker, k2tog, k34 sts, ssk, k1, place marker, k2tog, ending round. Continue to decrease on each side of marker for 3 more rounds, decreasing a total of 8 sts. Decrease one more round, but replace the last k2tog with a k3tog to end up with an equal number of stitches. With those remaining sts, you can either divide the number of stitches equally onto two knitting needles and use the kitchener stitch to graft stitches together, or bind off and stitch the bottom together.

Pocket: Cast on 30 sts. P2, k to last 2 sts, p2 (rs). K2, p to the last 2 sts, k2 (ws). Knit to the end of row (rs). P to the end of row (ws). continue these last four rows until pocket measures 5 1/2 inches and bind off. Attach pocket to cover.
